Salisbury

We took a London Walks day trip to Stonehenge and Salisbury. This was a lot of fun. We took the train out to
Salisbury and did a 2 hour walking tour of the city. The city was built around the Cathedral. The city has a
wall around it thus its called a Close. Then we took a bus out to Stonehenge, then came back to Salisbury had
a little free time to walk around and then we took the train back to London.

The Church of Salisbury was built in the 1200s. It has the tallest steeple in the country. They also had a really
neat clock in the church. It was purely mechanical and it was bigger than me and it was supposed to be rigged to the bell, so
that on the hour it would ring. The clock doesn't have hands on it so you only know what time it is by when the bell rings. However
they disconnected it from the bell because they were afraid some little kids would get their hands chopped off. Anyways it was destroyed at one point
in time, but some monk found all the pieces and put it back together so it works now, except for the bell.
