Laura and Floyd's Trip to Europe
Venice

We took an overnight train from Paris to Venice. This one wasn't as comfortable as the trains we took to and from the Pyranees. We got to Venice around 10 am and easily found our hotel. We decided to take the vaporetto to St Peters, but then we accidently got on the boat going the wrong way. So we went around the island and got off and decided to wind our way through the maze of streets and walk. Venice was really cool because it had such narrow streets and no cars at all. It wasn't very crowded until we came out to St Peters square and then it was really crowded. We didn't go into the Basillica because the line was too long and it was really hot. So we went to the Ducal Palace instead. Unfortunately the Accademia was closed so we couldn't go there. So we basically just wandered the streets till we got lost then hopped on a boat to figure out where we were.

Map of Venice. The train station is in the northwest corner of the island, our hotel was right near there.

St Mark's square. There are so many pigeons here, and I do not like pigeons. People pay money to buy pigeon food to feed the birds. Its ridiculous.
